How to insert Google Analytics code in Blogspot
Google Urchin web analytics is now made available for Blogspot user. It is now completely free, consider that it used to be a paid service charging USD200 per year, its a very powerful web analytic. You can use Google Analytics to track the traffic to your Blogspot domain. To do so:
- Sign in to your Blogger account at www.blogger.com
- If you have more than one blog under your Blogger account, select the blog that you’ll be tracking
- Click the Template tag
- In the HTML code box, scroll down to the bottom of the code. Paste the Analytics tracking code directly above the closing tags:
<script xsrc="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" mce_src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-xxxxxx-x";
urchinTracker();
</script> - Click Save Template Changes
- Click Republish to update your live site
You can get some mighty detailed statistics.Google’s taken a great product and let the market have it for free, but it doesn’t do everything. It will put a lot of people out of business, but it won’t rule the market.

Google Sitemaps for Blogspot User
Finally Google has made available their Google Sitemaps for Blogspot user. One of the previous draw back when it comes to setting up Google Sitemaps for a free account is that most blogging platform which doesn’t let you upload files to your blog host’s servers. It seems that Google has now allowed bloggers to insert a meta code in their template for verification. Why you should use Google Sitemaps for your blogspot?
- your blog gets indexed better by Google, so that people will hopefully be more likely to find your blog’s webpages when they search on Google;
- when you update your blog, e.g. write a new post, you can ping Google, i.e. get Google to come and re-crawl your blog very quickly, so that people who search Google will find the most current information about your blog; and
- you can get more info about how Google indexes your blog, and maybe tweak it to improve the likelihood of people finding your blog in future when searching on Google.
If you’re a serious blogger and wants eyeballs, I would highly suggest that you give Google Sitemaps a try, based on my past experience, there is a jump of 100% visitors and if you are into making money online using Google Adsense - Google Sitemaps is the answer.
A consuming experience has a step by step tutorials on how to set up Google Sitemaps on your blog. What are you waiting for?
