Search Engine War Continues With Amazon A9 Powered by MSN Live

There is no official press release from the internet giants Google and Microsoft than Amazon A9 is now being powered by MSN Live. Its a very sudden move and a big lost for Google, this makes me wonder why would Amazon dump Google for Microsoft Live when it is so obvious that Google’s search engine is way much powerful and accurate than Microsoft’s search engine.

Microsoft fans all over the world have rejoiced about this as this is the first big victory for their Windows Live line of products. (If there is any fans out there). Yawn.

My suspect is that Microsoft must have offered Amazon a sweet deal, probably an link to their website for intergrated search into the next Microsoft Windows Vista. I can’t think of anything else that could possibly makes Amazon ditching Google for Live.

Gecko and Fly is just few weeks old and it is ranked fourth place in A9.com for the keyword “Gecko and Fly”. This goes to show how inaccurate the search engine is, but then this is suppose to be good news to bloggers like us.

Even though this doesn’t affect too many users I’m guessing, I think it’s a significant move. Since Google has a dominant position in search, anything that happens that is seen as them losing share hurts their model.
