YPN Ads Placement Advice
Yahoo YPN posted their finding on how blog readers eye movement when it comes to reading the content, some what opposite from what Google Adsense team’s finding.
![]()
They suggest using vertical skyscrapers to the right of content follow by a rectangular box content advertisement. Unlike Google Adsense, the main placement for ads would be point 3, instead of the header section.
Each site is different, and each publisher has different goals,” Margaret notes. “Publishers should experiment with different placement, layouts, Reporting Categories and Ad Targeting combinations to achieve the best outcome.
I guess the biggest difference is if you are a first-time visitor to a site or a regular reader. First-time visitors have to scan everything for navigation, I would say that if you have lots of first time visitor, the above ads placement would work very well.

Chitika Ads Supported Countries
If you’re a Chitika ads publisher and your earning is very low, chances are your main traffic is not from the countries listed below:
Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and United States.
LiewCF made a query on the list of supported countries by Chitika. Unlike Adsense, you don’t get paid for each clicks made by net surfer that don’t originate from the countries listed above. Now, if you happen to have Chitika Mall ads displayed on your blog and your CTR is low, analyze your traffic and optimize the ads accordingly. For example if your site is mainly about game console and your primary traffic is from Japan, the games featured on your Chitika Malls should be of PlayStation.
For your information, Chitika is a contextual advertising company that display mini tab ads on your blog, they are unlike Google Adsense, you’re able to choose what type of product to be display according to your liking.

Most Popular Free Blogging Platform
Which is the most popular free blogging platform among bloggers? According to Technorati, blogspot has a 44% of overall market share follow by MSN with 23%. Based on the Technorati queries part of their study, it seems that the most commonly-used blogging platforms are:
blogspot 44%
msn 23%
livejournal 8%
aol 1%
splinder 1%
20six 1%
typepad 1%
blog 1%
fc2 1%
hatena 1%
Surprisingly MSN has a 23% market share, maybe it is due to its user friendly interface but overall the design is not flexible, you’re not allowed to insert codes (adsense) and it seems that every msn space user has the exact layout - boring and dull. I would highly recommend blogspot as the first choice, mainly because of its flexibility and it belongs to Google.

If wordpress and other paid blogging platform like Movable Type are taken into consideration, Blogspot still hold the first spot with a command of 35%. Although Wordpress has a mere 2% market share, they are made of mainly hardcore bloggers, which is why there are so many wordpress templates available while blogspot user has a limited choice of templates to choose from.
