kazaa logoLike all P2P programs, Kazaa network has its days numbered. Recent reports said that Kazaa’s owners will pay $100 million to EMI, Warner Bros Music, Sony BMG and Universal Music, with the added commitment to switch to a legal framework within the given amount of time.

The announcement marks the end of an era for Kazaa. Once the world’s most used P2P application, but worries over spyware and viruses increasingly put individuals off the software.

I once was a Kazaa user too, but was put off by not using it due to the spyware bundle together with the programs. Now, I’m glad to say that I’ve got legit with iTunes. We cannot stop P2P networking, ever! Someone else will pop up in Kazaa’s place and then the anti-piracy groups will have to spend even more time and money just to flood those networks with fake files.
