The First Smiley :-)
The first smiley or better known as :-) and its many other variants are an important part of worldwide electronic culture. This simple combination of text allows emotion to be express in a very meaningfull way in the early 80’s. The original creator was Scott Fahlman, his original email was lost until it was found it a backup tape in 2002. Here is Scott’s original post:

Some people will argue that smilies have been around for much more dating as far back as the 60s .. sometimes used in military communications (or something). Like it or not, the smiley has become a staple of Internet culture, with animated GIF and other image representations, as well as the ubiquitous text-based emoticon, ” :) “.
Wordpress 2.0.4 Has Landed
Housten we have a problem, wordpress 2.0.3 is full of bugs, and to my surprise it has as many as 50 over bugs!!!
My goodness, what happen to Wordpress? Since this is a security release, if you have any friends with blogs make sure to remind them to upgrade and lend a hand if they’re not too savvy. We’re all in this together. Download the latest Wordpress 2.0.4 now!
WordPress 2.0.4, the latest stable release in our Duke series, is available for immediate download. This release contains several important security fixes, so it’s highly recommended for all users.
