It all started with the idea of making money from Google Adsense. Today’s hackers are unlike those from th epast 20 years ago, hackers used to be motivated by the fame that arise when they break into a computer or wrote a dangerous worm/virus that spread like wild fire just for the sake of damaging computers. Today’s hackers are motivated by money.
The KMeth – latest worm to hit the internet is the YM worm – spread thru yahoo messenger, this virus would message all the other infected user with messages that request them to visit a particular site, these site are filled with Google Adsense ads and the worm will automatically click on the ads to generate money for the user. Smart? or is it foolish, this must be a clear act of stupidility. Come to think of it, Google Adsense require you to have a valid name and home address and they’ll validate it my sending a postcard together with a pin number. User name are unchangable and only checks are issue when your account reaches USD100.
The KMeth virus/worm writer has clearly unmask himself by allowing the FBI to trace him using his own Google Adsense account. Call that madness.
