Great wall of China is not visible from outer space but the all new KFC logo is. laid out at 87,500 square feet using tiles, this all new logo spot the colonel wearing an apron and of course a better hair style. Colonel looks so much younger and fun to be with now.

Images Alongside Google Adsense

I’ve been toying around with the idea of using Adsense Beautifier for quite sometime now, the whole thing looks so risky. I’ve seen a few well known bloggers using it for their blog, a very good example would be, Copyblogger (check out the ads after the article). I got a reply from the Google Adsense team about the plugin and this is what they have to say:

To be specific, we ask that publishers not place misleading images near Google ads or use images that appear to be directly associated with the advertisers and their offerings. The use of such images may confuse users or draw undue attention to the ads and result in unintentional clicks.

I guess copyblogger got it right, the images beside the ads at each post are irrelevant and it comes with a dotted border, but then Darren Rowse, a very well know blogger in the blogging world applied the same technique - images beside/above google ads, unlike Copyblogger, the ads in Darren’s blogs are relevant to the ads Google Adsense is displaying, with no border between the ads and images, this has been going on for almost a year or perhaps more.

It doesn’t affect me if they got a higher CTR but I’m just wondering if Darren Rowse can do it, why not others? Why not me? Why not the many other bloggers? Some examples of Darren’s blogs with images alongside adsense:

Laptops

I hope Darren is not mad, I have much respect for him. His main blog - Problogger is a must read for all problogger wannabe. The content is great and his step by step guide on how to maximize earnings legally without breaking adsense TOS are beyond words.

I still couldn’t find the answer in Google Adsense official forum and don’t think I am able to find it anywhere else. What can I say, it is better to be safe than sorry and slow and steady win the race.

There are many types of reports that use the Earth’s population reduced to 100 people, especially in the Internet. Ideas like this should be more often shared, especially nowadays when the world seems to be in need of dialogue and understanding among different cultures, in a way that it has never been before.

Math Comment Spam Protection Plugin

Comment Spam is killing me! So is email spam. Here is a cool plugin for Wordpress, this plugin asks the visitor making the comment to answer a simple math question.

This is intended to prove that the visitor is a human being and not a spam robot. I’m thinking of installing this plugin… maybe… How come nobody comes up with this idea in emails? Say if I send an email from Gmail to Hotmail and to identify if the sender is a human, hotmail will email me a maths question for me to answer. Is this not a better way to filter spam?

Everything is backwards, even the letters you key into the search box. This is elgooG. The best part is Google actually allows this to happen, one of the main reason could be the Great Firewall of China.

Google China’s search engine has to go thru a filter under the state government internet regulation, and elgoog provide Chinese internet surfers unfiltered results from Google, possibly because the Chinese government thought that elgoog is a joke website. oohaY.com anyone?

Triumph Japan has unveiled a bra that doubles as a shopping bag… Yes, a bra that double up as a shopping bag. This must be the craziest thing ever invented. So, I’m wondering if a snatch thief snatch the bag/bra, do you sue him for sexual harassment or both for robbing?

When the bra is being worn, the “shopping bag” portions are folded away inside the bra cups, where they serve as extra padding. The bra quickly converts to a shopping bag by removing the bag portions from the cups and connecting the hooks on the bra’s underwire. The lace cups serve as decoration along with the shoulder straps, which are disconnected and tied to the top of the bag as ribbons
