Malaysia to ban fast food advertisement

I’ve read somewhere that Malaysia’s government plan to ban all fast food advertisement, the reason given was that the population is suffering from overweight due to fast food like McDonalds, KFC, Burger King and many more, which I find it ironic that the staple food – rice has a way much higher carbohydrate that fast food like burgers.

May 27th, 2008i think it’s “ironic” that you somehow equate carbohydrates with obesity. you honestly think that eating large amounts of rice will cause someone to gain anywhere near as much weight as eating large amounts of fast food?

September 17th, 2008Carbs in themselves are not fattening. The high fat and sugar content of fast food IS fattening. Plus the high fat content gives it great “mouth appeal”, so you want to (and do) eat more than you need.
Malaysia sees a problem they can stop before the habit of fast food develops. They have enough fattening food of their own without yet more globalised junk food.
