Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 1TB Hard Disk

Hitachi 7K1000 deskstar hard disk is the latest offering from the company, with a capacity of 1TB and a price tag of $399, this massive 3.5-inch hard disk spins at 7,200 RPM. I have a 300GB removable hard disk and I find it almost impossible to fill it up with all my data, I can’t imagine myself having a 1TB hard disk but then again I might get one for myself end of the year, I was thinking of ripping all of my DVD collections into a hard disk for archiving and easy browsing – torrent?

For your information, Deskstar used to be part of IBM’s hard disk division but was sold off to Hitachi due to financial losses, I read somewhere that the America military uses Deskstar for their data storage, that was years ago. This goes to show the reliability of the hard disk, imagine a hard disk failure and the American military lost some of the nuclear warhead design.
