Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch

Lenovo was awarded the task to design the Beijing 2008 Olympic torch, it is called the “Cloud of Promise”. Inspired by the shape of a traditional Chinese scroll, the imagery of the ‘Cloud of Promise’ represents the traditions of China, while the shape, texture and technology evoke the Olympic spirit, but the design seems a little Japanese to me, especially the tsunami wave part.
