The Creative Zen Stone is going head to head with Apple ipod shuffle, unlike other competitors, Creative is using the “Blue Ocean Strategy” by simply creating a new market. How? Simple, by offering the Zen Stone at half the price of Shuffle.
Nothing much to shout about in term of features, they’re more or less what ipod shuffle is offering, I guess with a price tag of 40 EURO, this gadget would likely be a hit – not as a gift or primary audio devide but as an alternative portable device, for fear of being rob or losing it. It is so darn cheap that you won’t mind getting a second one and break it apart. Much like the Nintendo Wii, by simply not competing with the bigger brother.

May 3rd, 2009Here we are in May 2009 and the Zen Stone is discontinued. I picked one up three days ago for £15 and I’m REALLY pleased with it.
“Nothing much to shout about in term of features” you say? How about it’s tiny, loads over 1000 MP3s, the sound quality is good over the speaker and better over headphones, and a free skin and clip is provided in the box, so you can wear the Zen Stone in your shirt pocket?
The killer feature for me was the ability to simply move from room to room – without having to plug and wireless speakers in, or have headphones on and miss the doorbell. I also love that I can walk in the country and listen to music and yet I can still hear cars approaching.
Zen Stone was/is excellent – grab one before they are all gone!
