Blog Comment and Trackback Submitter

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I am receiving about 2000 comment and trackback spams per day, you heard me, that is more than 2000 comment spams per day, sometimes that figure could easily reach 3000.

It appears that spammers are finding it hard to make money online now, it could be because Google has taken some affirm action on these spammers and their blogs, now that is not the end of comment spam, that is the begining of an end and all together.

Recently I am receiving a different kind of comment, it not not about porn, viagra or adult website, it a comment spam that reads:

This comment was submitted automatically using Trackback Submitter. If you would like to submit comments to thousands of blogs yourself (so you may get indexed fast and get thousands of backlinks automatically), please see Trackback Submitter web for m…

For USD300, they’re selling these comment spam tools for anyone, hopefully there won’t be a tsunami of spams flooding my blog, I’m spending like half an hour per day just to filter these spams, yes I am using Akismet but it is only performing at 99% efficiency.

Switching Homepage to Google in Safari

google safari warning bug windows

Have your tried the Safari for Windows version? Now, try changing the homepage to www.google.com, it appears that Safari doesn’t want you to make the switch to Google, anything but Google. I’ve tried switching over to msn.com and yahoo.com and it works perfectly without any warnings.

The likely reason is that Apple gets paid by Google whenever someone uses the Safari’s search field on the upper right hand corner, pretty much like how Firefox get paid with their browser.

Blogger in draft mode

For all those Blogspot Blogger, Blogger.com is proud to announce the newly special version of Blogger called draft! Basically the idea is to release half baked ideas that might or might not make it to the official platform, its a playground for trying out new Blogger features before they’re published!

Features on Blogger in draft may be updated, changed, re-imagined, transmogrified, or removed at any time. Draft gives us the freedom to see what works and what doesn’t before we turn a feature on for everyone, so expect us to make changes — hopefully you’ll think they’re for the better!

Google Adsense New Feature

June 15, 2007 · Filed Under Contextual Advertising · Comment

google logogspy - a blog about Google mention that there is this new unique feature for China’s Adsense publisher, this new feature is called “allowed site” where the publisher enters their site’s url, this is to prevent any unwanted incident such as some spammer using your email in a porn, japanese orgy, or kiddy porn site for what ever reason. Amit Agarwal from Labnol has this to say:

In the past I have a bad experience where my Adsense publisher ID was put on some porn website and I received an email from Google saying you are showing ads on pages that are against policies.

Personally I think this is a good move, I can’t wait for this feature to go international.

google yahoo msn ask share market piechart

The big is getting bigger, and the rich is getting richer. Year on year basis, Google market share has increase by an average of 11%, something for us to be very worried about. Below is the break down figure:

    Google 65.26% | 3.5 billion search queries
    Yahoo 20.73% | 2 billion queries.
    MSN 8.46% | 798 million queries.
    Ask 3.69% | 379 million queries

How many percent of visitors come form Yahoo to your blog?

I’ve been trying to increase the numbers of user from Yahoo lately but to no avail, I tried submitting my sitemap to Yahoo, get listed in their directory and many more, but they just don’t seems to be delivering the number of hits that Google is, currently 95% of the visitor from search engine comes from Google alone, which is something bad. Diversity creates stability, too much reliance on a single search engine is bad for traffic source.

Am I alone in this whole 90%++ search engine source thing?
