Does the introduction of technology magically equate to a more efficient learning environment for children - third-world or otherwise?  Are notebook PCs really the key to a better life (or even better learning) for children?

Seems that third-world children have more immediate needs, like clean water, medical supplies, or basic civic infrastructures.  If benefactors insist on putting funds into educational efforts, wouldn&#039;t books, teachers, &amp; schools be more appropriate than placing gadgets in the hands of impoverished children?</description>
