Ever had a problem with copying and creating new files into your memory card due to Error 0×80070052? This could be a windows file system error where the memory card or thumbdrive is formatted in FAT format instead of FAT32 or NTFS. FAT file system only supports a limited number of files that can be saved in the root directory.
Problem:
- Not able to copy new files to your USB thumbdrive, flash drive or SD card.
- Not able to create new folder or file.
- Low disk space or limited storage space.
Solutions you’ve tried but failed to rectify the problem:
- Transfered all the files to your computer, formated the USB thumbdrive, flash drive and SD Card, and transfered the file back to the USB drive or memory card.
- Executed scan disk for bad sector.
- Scanned for possible virus or worm but failed to detect any.
Solution 1:
- Backup your files
- Format your thumbdrive to FAT32 or NTFS
- Move your files back to your thumbdrive.
Solution 2:
- Reduce the number of files in your root directory, move these files to a pre-existing folder, voila – problem solved! Now you are able to copy and create new files in your thumbdrive.
