FREE Dreamhost Web Hosting Account Plus Domain Name

Its official now and about time, Yahoo! is finally shutting down GeoCities for good. It is kind of sad to know that another piece of internet history is gone. Back when web hosting was expensive, Geocities was one of the few web hosting companies offering free hosting in exchange for advertisement placed randomly on your web page.

Back then I was one of the many Geocities users and that is where I learned about html and web coding. In honor of Geocities, Dreamhost is offering 2 years (worth $214.80) free web hosting account plus domain name for the first 1000 person, the only condition is you must own a Geocities account! Visit this post for more information – Free web hosting.

How to obtain you FREE Dreamhost account?

All you have to do is verify you are an existing GeoCities customer by creating a page on your GeoCities account (or editing an existing page) to have the phrase “I’m off to DreamHost!” on it!

Then when you signup for us, simply put the full url to that page as your “promotional code” and you’ll get a 2 year plan (normally $214.80) free!

Alternatively, you can sign up with some of these FREE web hosting, the only drawback is the limited amount of bandwidth and disk space allocated, or shall I say barely enough to support anything more than 100 page views per day. However, these free web hosting is highly recommended for newbies, this enables you to understand the in and out of MySQL and self host wordpress.

Thank you for you information, I’ve just registered with Dreamhost an account and waiting for their approval.

Your entry reminds me about my first webpages in geocities, which has been filtered in Vietnam few years ago, when I was studying abroad and created an account with geocities.

    Those were the days…
