Flickr’s search hasn’t changed much after Yahoo acquired it, however, competitor are making inroads and slowly gaining market share as flickr’s user interface and search engine remained user unfriendly with relatively little improvement over the years.
Last week could possibly be the turning point for flickrs, it introduced a new search result interface, which is a huge improvement over the previous interface, and it is about time they do so. The new results interface comes with bigger thumbnails and most important of all, a tiny “i” icon, clicking on this will provide some really useful information regarding the photo, information such as comments, tags, geographic info, gps, date and more. Example: Flickr search for the keyword ‘London’ within Creative Commons-licensed content.
