Disable, Remove And Block Yahoo Messenger (YM) 8 and 9 Ads

How to remove YM8 and 9 ads? I’m not against advertisement in Instant Messenger, but what annoys me is when I accidentally mouse over the ads and it so happened to be a animated ad, this is when the ads started to blast music from my speaker and flashes.

It is not so much of privacy reason, what I hate about these ads is their provocative way of saying ’see here’. Anyway, if you don’t like these animated ads, here are some simple steps to remove Yahoo Messenger ads, tested with both version 8 and 9.

• Close Yahoo Messenger
• Download .bat file (virus free, scanned with Norton).
• Double click it

Based on my own experience, these sort of software patch might cause your IM to crash. Always remember to test it out in a dummy comp. Unless you find the ads really annoying, avoid patching it. After all, Yahoo needs money to provide these soft of free service.
