Connect Laptop Computer To TV With S-Video, DVI And HDMI

How to connect your laptop computer to a TV via S-Video, DVI or HDMI? If you’re a Windows XP, Vista, or 7 user, here is a simple tutorial on how to connect your notebook to your television.

For projectors, most laptop comes with a simple tool for everyday task such as monitoring the processor speed, brightness, memory allocation, backup tools and more. I’m using an Acer and it comes with a ‘Projector’ connector. Click on the button and you’re ready to go, no restart – nothing.

Connect Laptop / Notebook To Television

Before you proceed, watch this video.

Check you laptop or notebook for the S-Video port, normally it is the 7-pin mini-DIN socket, sometimes it can be the 4 pin version, double check!

Get a S-Video cable, connect it to from your laptop’s S-Video port to the TV

Right click on your ‘Desktop’ –> Select ‘Properties’ –> Select the ‘Settings’ tab (Step 1) –> Click on the ‘Advanced’ button (Step 2) –> A new window will appear, select the ‘Monitor’ tab (Step 3) –> In the drop down list, choose ‘Generic Television’ (Step 4) and hit ‘OK’. Restart your computer if it doesn’t work.

Note: VGA, HDMI and DVI gives better quality, S-Video is an outdated technology.
