A corrupted MBR is probably due to bad sector in a hard disk, or IO error due to power failure. How to fix MBR error in Windows Vista?

- Insert the Vista DVD to the DVD-Rom, make sure the boot sequence in your BIOS is in the correct order.
- Fill in the language and location options and click ‘Next’
- In the following screen, click ‘Repair your Computer’ (screenshot above)
- Another dialog box will appear, select your Vista partition and click ‘Next’

- Select Command Prompt from the system recovery options window (image above)
- The Command Prompt window will appear, type the following command:
Bootrec.exe /fixMBR
Bootrec.exe /fixBoot
- When the recovery process is completed, restart the system.
