How To Fix Master Boot Record MBR Error In Windows Vista

  • Insert the Vista DVD to the DVD-Rom, make sure the boot sequence in your BIOS is in the correct order.
  • Fill in the language and location options and click ‘Next’
  • In the following screen, click ‘Repair your Computer’ (screenshot above)
  • Another dialog box will appear, select your Vista partition and click ‘Next’

  • Select Command Prompt from the system recovery options window (image above)
  • The Command Prompt window will appear, type the following command:

Bootrec.exe /fixMBR
Bootrec.exe /fixBoot

  • When the recovery process is completed, restart the system.
