Unfortunately, Windows 7 is still a resource hungry machine, slightly better than Vista but not as efficient as Windows XP. One of the feature in Windows 7 and Vista that is hogging all of the battery juice is the AeroGlass feature.

Aerofoil extends Vista and Windows 7 notebook battery life by:

  • Allowing you to manually disable Aero Glass.
  • Optionally managing Aero Glass user interface.
  • Optionally managing sound muting (NEW!).
  • Optionally managing Windows Sidebar.
  • Optionally showing a quick hibernate button

One of the smart feature found in Aerofoil is the auto mode where it will automatically turn off the Windows Aero Glass feature and switch to other low battery usage settings. Aerofoil is a free download, open source, and works with Windows 7 and Vista only (Windows XP don’t come with Aero Glass feature).

p.s. Unless you have a really fast computer, the best option is to use the classic theme, simple, easy and fast.
