Where to download autorun.inf worm removal? Is there any autorun.inf antivirus? Here is another good reason to have a good antivirus and disable the autorun feature in Windows XP and Vista. Recently there are many cases of reported ‘autorun’ virus spreading via removable thumbdrive, flash memory and pendrive. It is important that we take the necessary preventive action to stop the spreading of these viruses by disabling the autorun feature in windows. After all, who needs this stupid autorun feature?
I’ve disabled mine long time ago and thus was spared from this W32.Downaduplautorun virus from infecting my computer as shown in the image above. Prior to accessing the media, I’ve gave the thumbdrive a quick virus scan. My Norton AntiVirus (genuine) managed to prevent the virus from spreading. Here is a simple tutorial on how to disable the autorun feature for all removable media.
Disable Autorun Feature In Windows XP and Vista

Go to ‘Start’ –> ‘Run’

Key in ‘Regedit’ into the text box.

To modify the registry settings, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
-Software
—Microsoft
—–Windows
——-CurrentVersion
———Policies
———–Explorer
When you arrived at the ‘Explorer’ key, double click on the “NoDriveTypeAutoRun” string, a new window will appear. Now all you need to do is change the value from 95 to 91 as shown in the image above. Restart your computer for the new settings to load.
Remove Suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ Files Automatically
Autorun Eater 2.3 is not a virus removal tool; it is neither an antivirus for autorun virus. It is an autorun.inf virus removal tool that simply removes all autorun files in all removable media. Autorun Eater will remove any suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ files even before the user attempts to access the drive. These files are auto-backup’ed in case of false positives. Autorun Eater 2.3 is freeware, download and disable autorun feature in Windows XP and Vista.

p.s. Microsoft has finally decided to remove the stupid and useless autorun feature in the up and coming Windows 7.

after i delete the autorun.ini and exe it creates my pendrives still keep getting it.
the virus must be running on the PC and putting the files on my flash drives every time i plug one in. it also creates and exe file that usually has the name of the last process i ran but in the file description it will say something like “user logon application”.
what if it is not a virus and ur antivirus gives you a false alarm ! i got rid of the virus by kaspersky & every time I plug my usb in diff computer it tell me that it’s a virus -.-
