iPhone is not Blackberry and how many of us do use the data plan? Unlike most phone where we have the option to disable 3G and Edge, the iPhone doesn’t have this feature and some application access the web automatically.

If you have an iPhone but didn’t get the unlimited data plan, be in for a shock after you see your first phone bill. When out of range of a Wi-Fi access point, the iPhone will automatically connect via EDGE/3G periodically incurring expensive charges. Usually 5 cents per kilobyte.

  • To disable 3G and Edge connection on the iPhone, visit iphonenodata.com website using safari on your iphone.
  • Click on the ‘DISABLE EDGE/3G’ button.
  • Tap ‘Install’
  • Tap ‘Install Now’ to confirm

It works great for disabling edge/3g on Fido and Rogers for firmware 3.0.1. Haven’t tried 3.1 yet.
