How to connect your laptop to your TV? S-Video cable is the most popular choice, probably because these port can be found in almost every laptop and graphic cards. Having said that, S-Video does not give the best video output in term of quality, VGA and DVI are better, HDMI is the best.

Check you laptop or notebook for the S-Video port, usually it is the 7-pin mini-DIN socket, sometimes it can be the 4 pin version, always double check!

Get a S-Video cable, connect it to from your laptop’s S-Video port to the TV. After the connection to your TV is made you will have to toggle alternate display by pressing and holding your [Fn] key and pressing F4, or F5, or another F# key, varies from different laptop manufacturer.

- Press once to turn on output
- press again to turn off your laptop screen
- press again to go back to laptop screen only
Note: As for audio and sound system, you’ll need a headphone to RCA jack converter. Plug the cord in to your headphone jack and the RCA jacks in to the same input you used for the video.
