Windows DreamScene is a unique feature found only in Windows Vista, it allows you to set a video clip or slideshow as your desktop background. I still can’t figure the reason for doing so, probably for the fun of it. Unfortunately and fortunately this feature is not available in Windows 7.
I believe a small number of users will be missing DreamScene when they upgrade to Windows 7. The reason for discarding this feature in Windows 7 is to improve the speed and stability over ‘awesome-ness’. If you happened to be one of the minority users of Dreamscene, you can try the hack below, what you need is Administrator Privileges.

- Download Windows7-dreamscene.exe, this patch will copy the necessary DreamScene files, registry keys and entries
- Run Windows7-DreamScene.exe (You must be the administrator) to install and enable Windows DreamScene
- Enabled Aero before enabling DreamScene in Windows 7
Add Video Clip In Windows 7 DreamScene
- Place the video file in %WinDir%\web\ folder
- To enable the video as the background, right click on the video and select ‘Set as Desktop Background’ from menu

The tutorial above is somewhat too complicated? Or it is not working? Try Stardock DeskScapes (shareware), it is a program that allows users to have animated wallpaper on their Windows XP and Windows 7. It supports playing video as animated wallpaper, dynamically generated content as animated wallpaper, and more.
