Firefox 2.0 and above – Ctrl + Shift + T
IE7 and IE8 – Ctrl + T or Ctrl + W

Eva Peters: This information is wrong. For IE, ‘Ctrl + T’ is used to open a new tab, and ‘Ctrl + W’ is used to close the tab currently being viewed. These cannot re-open a tab that was previously closed.
Val: Eve is correct about IE.
Control + Shift + T works with both IE and Firefox
