Just bought a new Sony Vaio FW55GF laptop and the only feature I truly missed in my old Acer Aspire is the ability to turn off the laptop monitor. Monitor Off Utility (free) is a simple software that enables you to turn off your laptop monitor.

What you need to do is click on the ‘setup hotkey’ button, a new dialog will appear and choose ‘S’ instead of ‘L’. The ‘L’ combination doesn’t seems to work on my Windows 7, if I am not mistaken, CTRL+ALT+L is the combination key for Lock Down or Log Off.

Remember to set the monitor shut off display to ’0′ seconds.
