Windows registry is constantly being written and updated whenever you are using your computer, in the long run, it gets fragmented and subsequently slows down the entire system. Depending on the health of your system, it is advisable to defrag your hard disk and registry once every six months. It has been proven that defragmentation improves performance and boosts access to the registry.
Based on my own experience, there is probably a significant improvement, since my system is rather new, it is hard to tell. However, based on my past experience, it works.

a good software that can help fix registry errors and then speed up computer. and I think a registry defrag is necessary to clean up registry ,too
