Ovi Maps is perhaps the best mobile cell phone GPS software, the Garmin phone GPS software drains my battery at the speed of light. Getting from point A to B is not much of a problem, the only trouble is you won’t have any battery juice once you reach the destination.
Google Maps is another alternative, it is free but requires an internet connection (does not work offline), Nokia on the other hand has decided to introduce some competition by giving away their Ovi Maps for free. Unlike Google, Ovi Maps does not requires an internet connection and it is as good as a Garmin or TomTom Gps device with turn to turn direction feature. Damn (I own a Nokia 5800), I’ve just bought my Garmin Nuvi GPS one month ago. Important things you should know:
- Available for all Nokia Smartphone powered by Symbian S60, except for N97 and N900
- Available in 74 countries in 46 languages
- Requires firmware version 30.0.1 and above
Ovi Maps takes you where you want to be and shows you what you want see, with navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. All this with only one click. And it’s all free.
- Free Drive navigation
- Free Walk navigation
- Free maps and map updates
- Free Events guides
- Free Lonely Planet guides
This is much better than my Garmin, it has Lonely Planet guides and all the maps in the world for free. Apple and BlackBerry has some serious catching up to do, watch the video:
