Norton Bootable Recovery Tool by Symantec is probably a stripped down version of Norton Ghost. The only similar feature both software has is System protection – a feature found in Ghost that recovers your system and data even when you can’t restart the operating system.
Norton Bootable Recovery Tool creates a bootable USB or CD Disc to get you back up and running if your PC becomes so infected that it won’t work properly or even boot up. This tool is useful for recovering data, not so much of performing a full scan to save the computer.

Norton Bootable Recovery Tool is in beta stage, it runs on Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or 3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Remember to double check your computer for USB booting, without this feature Norton Bootable Recovery Tool might not run on as a bootable USB device.

It is always a good idea to keep a backup copy of all the files in your computer on an external hard disk. One of my favorite file transferring software is fastcopy, the sync feature is really useful because it only copies the data that don’t exist on the external hard disk.
