PNG Gauntlet is the best PNG compression software, I thought Stripper (Jpeg, Gif and PNG) is the best until I try PNG Gauntlet. As the name implies, it is only meant for PNG format, gif is acceptable too, it doesn’t work with jpeg.
All the PNG files in this blog are compressed with PNGGauntlet (Free), basically what it does is it squeezes the last bit of size out of them. Furthermore, no information is lost during this process (tested by me, proven to be accurate) – the only thing that changes is the file size.
PNGGauntlet is a .NET program that uses Ken Silverman’s PNGOUT command line utility to optimize PNG files.
