Email Virus Protection For Macintosh, Scan For Apple Mail Virus With Calm Antivirus
ClamXav is a very useful tool, it is a powerful yet free virus checker for Mac OS X. ClamXav uses a slightly modified version of the tried, tested, and very popular clamav open source antivirus engine as a back-end. CalmXav is only able to scan for files that are downloaded to your mac, it does not perform a quick scan on the email attachment.

ClamCour (free addon/plugin) is here to solve this problem, it is a Courier filter that allow Clam Antivirus (free) to scan incoming mail for viruses, and rejects it if check is positive. Why do you need this feature when Mac is almost virus free? Well, the keyword is almost virus free, not 100% virus free. Furthermore, it would reflect badly on your personal and business image if your client receive an email attachment with viruses.
With the popularity of VirtualPC, it is a matter of time before virus writers are able to write a virus that jumps from one OS to another.
The Most Effective Antivirus With Good Detection Rate And Removal Capabilities
When it comes to the most effective antivirus tools against malware, we tend to think of detection capabilities, not so much of removing them. As always, prevention is better than cure, then again, without the capability to cure the system, the antivirus is as good as useless. As shown in the chart below by AV Comparative, the best antivirus when it comes to detection capability is none other than Avira.

I have nothing against Avira, the report might not be 100% accurate because most malware writers tend to test their malware against popular antivirus software, that would be Norton, Kaspersky, McAfee and many more, especially Norton ( the most popular antivirus ), therefore most malware are immune to Norton before they hit the ‘market’.

If you’re looking for the most effective antivirus when it comes to removing malware, Symantec and eScan are both the best.
