Lip-Syncing in Beijing Olympics 2008 Opening Ceremony

The Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony was amazing, and like any good performance, there bound to be flaws, nothing is perfect. Apparently the organizers of the events wanted everything to be flawless, including the image of every actor and performers to project the ideal China, or shall we say the distorted version of China to the entire world.
Remember the little girl (Lin) in red and her song during the opening ceremony, truth is, she is lip syncing and she was brought in to replace the 7-year old Yang when it was deemed Yang is not cute enough because she has ugly sets of teeth.
According to CNN: “The reason was for the national interest,” said Chen Qigang, the ceremony’s musical director, in a state radio interview. “The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression. … Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects.”
The decision was made at the highest levels, Chen said.
“We had to do it,” he said. “We’d been through several inspections. They’re all very strict. When we rehearsed at the spot, there were several spectators from various divisions, especially leaders from the Politburo, who gave the opinion it must change.”
Now, we do enjoy looking at pretty faces, but the saddest part is, the girl behind the stage was replaced when it was agreed upon by the organizer earlier on that she would be performing live. I would be heartbroken if I’m the little girl, promises should not be made in the first place, how would the girl felt when she was told she could not perform live because she is not cute enough?
Walk the talk, leaders of the Chinese government should set an example by electing public servants that has the looks, charms and most of all they should be flawless. Yes, good looks! That goes for the president of China, which so happen that none of them has the looks, in fact, all of them are downright ugly!
Another lip syncing act during the closing ceremony?
Running mate for Barack Obama? John Edwards, Hilary Clinton or Bill Richardson

If I were a US citizen, Democrat would be my first choice, having said that, who is going to be Barack Obama’s running mate? Some of the criteria are:
- How well one works and gets along with Obama will be his running mate
- Somebody who can become president in the case of a tragedy
Hillary Clinton is too contentious a figure, she did ran for nomination and failed to out gun Obama, if they ever hook up, this would be a strange love hate relationship. On top of that, she has a strong leadership, doubt she would like the idea of being under someone.
Richardson would be a good choice because he has the international experience Obama lacks. He also has a strong supporter base in the Southwest, and a good track record as Gov.
John Edward is currently facing a scandal, plus, he did mention about not running for vice president again. This leaves us with one obvious choice – Bill Richardson.
An online survey of 4000 people voice their support for John Edward, but I guess roping in Hillary Clinton in as VP would effectively seal Obama hopes of becoming the next president. Yes, Clinton has the support, I believe Obama can work out some sort of agreement with Clinton, for instant Obama can make way for Clinton after 4 years in office, paving the way for Clinton to take over as president, this would be a win win situation. The dream team.
