Determine Missing Audio And Video Codec Required To Play Downloaded Movies From Torrent
How to determine the audio and video codec for an unplayable video file? I am not a fan of installing unknown third party software, if possible, I would prefer to have the information extract from existing software. As for missing video codec, VLC Player has a reasonably good ‘Codec Information’ section, provided that your file is playable with no image and only the audio.
As shown in the screenshot below, it takes only 2 simple steps to determine the video codec:
Now, what if the video is not playable in VLC? Well, then you’ll need a third party software, AVIcodec is a free multimedia file analyser for Windows. As the name implies, it will analyze the video file and determine the missing codec needed.
