Apple iPod FM Tuner?

apple ipod fm tuner

Apple’s Mac sales up 44%, profit soars 88% — but iPods down, this could be a beginning of an end of the ipod era, but then again it might not be. According to reports, revenues were down year to year basis by 1% only, which is nothing much to shout about but I doubt it is a sign of an end. Steve Jobs is the world’s greatest salesman and by simply mapping out the technology features of the first generation ipod with the latest version, we know that Steve Jobs is introducing new features one at a time, slowly.

He could have just build an iPod with video playback, radio, wifi, huge storage, possibly a torchlight or bluetooh but he decided to take this introduction one at a time. Rumours has it that the next generation iPod is going to have a FM Tuner, which is something I’ve been waiting for a long time, if that doesn’t happen then I’ll get myself a Sony Walkman.

Apple iPod with FM Radio

I’m not really an iPod fan but I have to admit that I would love to own an iPod player, it is not really that expensive after the introduction of iPod Nano. One of the many reason why I decided not to purchase an iPod because it lack features, for example a FM radio station and a good set of headphones. I’m currently eying Sony’s NWE507 mp3 player which comes with a FM radio and best of all a noise canceling earphone, I’ve tried out one in Sony Wings station and I am impress with the quality, I’ll have to wait for a while, lets see what Apple has install for us in the next iPod, if there is an FM Radio feature then chances of me getting an iPod would be higher.

Apple iPod with FM Radio

Since the company`s first poll on the topic in 2005, year-to-year personal MP3 player penetration has steadily increased. From the `06 to `07 studies, ownership is up to 47 percent of the rock sample, a jump of 34 percent. Among alternative listeners, two-thirds (67 percent) now own an iPod-like device.

Finally, the rumours about Apple launching a phone is true. With a retail price of USD499, this gadget is a combination of ipod and a phone. It comes with a 4Gb of memory, supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology and can detect location from Global Positioning System satellites. It also can send and display e-mail and text messages. Apple is partnering with Yahoo Inc. on Web-based e-mail and Google Inc. on maps.

With the launch of iPhone, Apple is now an electronic company and no longer a computer company, experts says Apple may soon rival Sony is every segment, from Audio to Digital Cameras.

The Apple phones, which will operate exclusively on AT&T Inc.’s Cingular Wireless network, will start shipping in June. A 4-gigabyte model will cost $499, while an 8-gigabyte iPhone will be $599. While wireless carriers typically offer discounts and rebates on new devices when they agree to sign a two-year service contact, Cingular said it was unclear whether this would be the case with the iPhone.

Apple iPod with Virus

Apple Video iPods shipped after September 12, 2006 could be loaded with Windows RavMonE.exe virus. I guess RavMonE.exe virus has a new name - better known as iWorm. . iWorm Cartoon Credit: Blaugh.com

“As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it,” Apple said on its web site.
