Olympic fever is here again, the New York Times has a neat collection of Olympic torches from 1936 to the Beijing Olympic 2008 torch.



The modern Olympic Games have become as much a global contest among designers and architects as among athletes. Each Olympics is expected to produce a logo, a signature building — and a characteristic torch that symbolizes local tradition and national character. Below, a design history of the Olympic torch from 1936 to the present day.

I have to admit that the Sydney Olympic 2000 torch is my favorite. Minimalist, simple and meaningful.

Lenovo's Beijing 2008 Olympic Official Laptop

Here is the follow up from the Olympic torch by Lenovo, an official laptop for Beijing 2008 Olympic games this summer. Details suggests a 12.1-inch XGA display and Intel’s L2400 Core 2 Duo processor, price is yet unknown but believed would be something beyond market price due to the limited numbers of laptop available. On the other hand, the Five Friendlies will serve as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace. Image below.
