How to increase your google adsense earnings?

Blogging for money is not my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean I hate the idea of making money online, who does? Lately, I’ve noticed a large number of people decided to blog not because they enjoyed blogging but wanted to make a living out of it, and that really annoys me. Reminds me of a good friend of mine, when the blogging world was in its infant years, I proposed the idea of co-blogging, with no intention of making anything out of it, but he rejected my idea, reason is because it is a waste of time.
Fast forward 2 years, he came talking to me and wanted to know how blog works and told me he bought a book - ‘Google Adsense for dummies‘, and just like yesteryear, I politely rejected his proposal on the ‘idea’ of co-blogging with him. His sudden passion in blogging was due to the fact that he overheard I’m making a living out of it.

Anyway, GeckoandFly was meant to be a collaboration between my friends (non-tech savvy people) by it did not materialized, glad that it didn’t worked out, if it does than my earnings would be equally divided among them. Three years of blogging and numerous trial and errors, I conclude that the art of monetizing your blog comes in many forms, depending on the blogging platform, keywords, language and many more, I would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the key issues or shall I say some really simple technique that all newbie should know.
1. Insert Ads into your post.
This is by far the easier way to increase your CTR, but be cautious that just like a sword, it cuts both ways because it can be potentially annoying to your readers knowing that you are bombarding them with advertisement. Some of my favorite formats are the 468 x 60px, 300 x 300px, and 125 x 125px. Read AdesBlog.
2. Filter unwanted or low paying ads
Rumors has it that the author of AdsBlacklist own numerous spammy websites and the only for his splog to appear in adsense is by blocking out the competitions, thus born AdsBlacklist, basically he provide a list of his competitor’s splog to be filtered by the publisher. Well, it does works to a certain extend.
3. Ping your blog, submit to all the search engines.
Based on my 3 years of experience, pinging you blog and submit it to every known search engine does not guarantee traffic, and in most cases you get spammed in returned.
Submit to Google
Submit to Yahoo
Submit to MSN
Submit to Baidu (China’s biggest search engine)
Ping Moreover - http://api.moreover.com/ping?u=http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com/sitemap.xml
Ping MSN - http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com
Ping ASK - http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com/sitemap.xml
Ping Google - http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ping?sitemap=http://www.YOUR-NAME.com/sitemap.gz
Ping Yahoo - http://search.yahooapis.com/SiteExplorerService/V1/updateNotification?appid=Yahoo&url=http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com/sitemap.xml
4. Sitemaps and SEO
Submit your sitemap.xml manually to Google, MSN, and Yahoo, it is a great way to monitor the keywords and your ranking in Google and Yahoo, highly recommended. The following table lists the Sitemap submission URLs for several major search engines:
Google Webmaster Central
Yahoo Site Explorer
MSN Webmaster Tools
If you are using Wordpress, then you should install these plugins:
All in One SEO - It works, based on both my blogs’ traffic, I noticed a 10 - 15% increase in term of pageviews.
Google XML Sitemaps - Will generate a sitemap.xml automatically whenever you update your post and comments, it pings all the three major search engine as well. A highly recommended plugin.
I’m not a SEO expert, neither am I a rich millionaire with tons of money lying around on the carpet. Just an ordinary kid making some spare cash for my college education. Whatever I wrote here are pretty basic in term of monetizing your blog, Google for more.
5. Drop Comments
By dropping your comments with a link back to other blogs, you’re building a social presence in the blog sphere, make it a habit, I would say at least 3 comments for each for your write.

The image above may appear to be some sort of vulgar hand sign but it isn’t, if you observe carefully, the hand sign spells out the word ‘blog’, which is rather creative. It is a T-Shirt by Ilias Karim and can be purchase at Threadless T-Shirt for less than 20 dollars.

Google #1 Ranking for ‘Make Money Online’

I’m lost, clueless. How in the world this blog - http://moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com/ make it to the number one spot for the keyword ‘make money online’?
What ever information that appears on the blog has been somewhat modified or duplicated from another source, in short, it is a splog - Spam Blog. That are tons of other better blogs on how to make money online, problogger.com is a good example.
The guy must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Blog Comment and Trackback Submitter

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I am receiving about 2000 comment and trackback spams per day, you heard me, that is more than 2000 comment spams per day, sometimes that figure could easily reach 3000.
It appears that spammers are finding it hard to make money online now, it could be because Google has taken some affirm action on these spammers and their blogs, now that is not the end of comment spam, that is the begining of an end and all together.
Recently I am receiving a different kind of comment, it not not about porn, viagra or adult website, it a comment spam that reads:
This comment was submitted automatically using Trackback Submitter. If you would like to submit comments to thousands of blogs yourself (so you may get indexed fast and get thousands of backlinks automatically), please see Trackback Submitter web for m…
For USD300, they’re selling these comment spam tools for anyone, hopefully there won’t be a tsunami of spams flooding my blog, I’m spending like half an hour per day just to filter these spams, yes I am using Akismet but it is only performing at 99% efficiency.

Perez Hilton Celebrity Blog Sued

Once a blogger becomes famous and his/her blog is making tons of money, the lawsuits join in. Perez Hilton, a celebrity gossip blog involved in a bitter $7.5 million lawsuit with a paparazzi photo agency. Reason being that he used or source images from the internet without permission.
Perez Hilton does sound like Paris Hilton.
He usually sources the pictures from the internet, a practice not liked by the media companies. In one case, Hilton had somehow obtained and posted the photos even before the actual owners had a chance to put them on its own website.
Now X17, a paparazzi photo agency, has decided to slap a $7.5 million lawsuit on Perez alleging that he has used 51 photos without permission, payment or credit.
Hilton is not willing to give up and says that he is fighting for the entire blogger industry. Will be a very interesting case to watch. - Digital Inspiration

Welcome to the Blogging World - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Seriously!

The Iranian president has a blog, ironically there is no press freedom in Iran and this really spice up the whole blogging world. Makes me wonder when is Mr.Bush going to join the blogging world?
Is Mr.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the first president/prime minister (which ever applies) with a blog? When translate with Google Language Tool, nothing came out… hmm… is this some kind of secret code?
Why would Mr.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad start a blog? Unless… its the end of the world!
What is the significance of Aug. 22? This year, Aug. 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to “the farthest mosque,” usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1). This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind.
A passage from the Ayatollah Khomeini, quoted in an 11th-grade Iranian schoolbook, is revealing. “I am decisively announcing to the whole world that if the world-devourers [i.e., the infidel powers] wish to stand against our religion, we will stand against their whole world and will not cease until the annihilation of all them. Either we all become free, or we will go to the greater freedom which is martyrdom. Either we shake one another’s hands in joy at the victory of Islam in the world, or all of us will turn to eternal life and martyrdom. In both cases, victory and success are ours.”
In this context, mutual assured destruction, the deterrent that worked so well during the Cold War, would have no meaning. At the end of time, there will be general destruction anyway. What will matter will be the final destination of the dead–hell for the infidels, and heaven for the believers. For people with this mindset, MAD is not a constraint; it is an inducement.
