New Adsense Format

Here is the new Adsense format - rounded corners, pretty neat format. I was hoping that they could roll out more features and introduce invideo ads like those from Adbrite or perhaps a firefox plugin that display relevant ads in the browser.

Google Adsense New Feature
gspy - a blog about Google mention that there is this new unique feature for China’s Adsense publisher, this new feature is called “allowed site” where the publisher enters their site’s url, this is to prevent any unwanted incident such as some spammer using your email in a porn, japanese orgy, or kiddy porn site for what ever reason. Amit Agarwal from Labnol has this to say:
In the past I have a bad experience where my Adsense publisher ID was put on some porn website and I received an email from Google saying you are showing ads on pages that are against policies.
Personally I think this is a good move, I can’t wait for this feature to go international.

Google Adsense Policy Update
Now you can place up to three link units on a page. As we’ve noted in the past, link units are a great way to provide relevant, user-friendly ads in hard-to-fit locations on your site.

Google Search Box Reduce CTR

I’ve been toying around with Google Adsense Search on my other blogs and concluded that by using Google Search, a blog’s Google Adsense CTR could be greatly reduced by 1%, I’ve done some experiment for the past few months between February and April, and the blog that I experimented on has a drop of in CTR for that month which translate into a drop of earning in term of dollars, for your information, traffic to my blog increases every month.
The CTR went back normal again when I remove the Google Search Box, my best guess would be the possiblity a visitor exit my blog by searching something with the Google Search Box, where else if there is no Google Search Box, the visitors are much more likely to exit my blog my clicking on one of the external links. I’ll re-introduce the Google Search Box again in my other blog and will see how it performance again this coming month, hopefully my theory is right.

New Google Adsense Login Page

Here is a sneak peak of the soon to be Google Adsense login page, I love the new layout, it is so clean and neat and informative, unlike the previous login screen which is kind of boring. Well, I am so used to the old login screen and I guess I need a little bit more time to adapt myself to this new layout. Could this possibly be the default layout for all Google Services? Gmail? Google Doc and others? Time will tell. Screenshot by me :)

Are You Stupid Google Adsense Ad

Here is a weird google adsense ad, some people really have the money to spend just for attention. The link was directed to a Quiz website, am not really sure how they are going to make money out of it, probably they are waiting for something like this… free publicity when people like me blog about it. So i guess it sort of work out after all.

Placing Images Beside Google Adsense?

Is it legal to place images beside Google AdSense? Here is an example of how to fuse Google Adsense text unit with image unit, on the left side is a standard AdSense text unit and then on the right side is a AdSense graphic ad unit. You can specify if you want image ads or text ads or both, to show up in each ad unit block. So technically, you are not serving images near the text ads, Google is.
I’m not sure if this is against Google Adsense policy, my advise is to double check with them before you actually try the actual thing. Play safe, be safe!

Images Alongside Google Adsense Legal Again?
Here is a comment by Bradfitz found in Darren Rowse post on Images Alongside Google Adsense. Read every word carefully.
Darren, thanks for the heads-up on this. I am very curious though, I noticed on your other sites (laptops, pda’s, cel phones, etc) You have not yet removed the images that line up with your leader-board Adsense ads.
I was always a bit surprised you used this tactic yourself, but even more so given the fact the there were no borders between your images and the ads, which the Adsense TOS required (suggested?) there to be before this new policy was released. So give us the skinny… are you boycotting this new rule? Waiting for them to give you a warning? Waiting for your graphic designer to get to it? Is the horizontal leader-board/image association a loophole to the rule and this only applies to vertical blocks? Or do you secretly own Google now? :)
Cheers and thanks again for posting this.
Below is a screenshot of Darren Rowse’s music phone blog. I thought placing images alongside Google Adsense is illegal, not to mention made worst with no border between the ads and the image. I wonder, How did Darren manage to insert 4 Ad unit when Google Adsense says only 3 Ad units are allowed. Don’t believe me? Visit his Livingroom blog and count the number of Ad Unit.
