Google Buys YouTube

Google Buys YouTubeIts official now that Google has accquire YouTube. Now I wonder what has Google install for their own Google Video? YouTube is a success because there is so many illegal videos, unlike those from MSN, Yahoo and Google Video, YouTube has a library of pirated video clips and a soon to be launch lawsuits. YouTube needs to sort things out and remove those illegal videos before they turn into the Napster of yesteryears.

Guess what would be the name? But then there won’t be changes right? since Google said they wanted to preserve their overall structure and brand as independent as possible. Then again, this might change within a year or two and below are some examples:

Google YouTube
Google Tube
Google Videos
Googe Tube
or any other ?

Google announced today that it has agreed to acquire YouTube, the consumer media company for people to watch and share original videos through a Web experience, for $1.65 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, YouTube will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and passionate community.

You can now save your favorite videos from YouTube to your hard disk by using youtube-dl, a small command-line program to download videos from YouTube. Well, its not a very user friendly way of downloading videos, more of a geek thing.

The software will download and save the video into your hard drive in .flv format. Which mean you need a VLC Media Player to watch the video, nope - the .flv file do not work with Windows Media Player. For your information, VLC Media Player is a very solid and reliable player, it is able to play most of the video out there, and if you happen to have problem playing certain DVD on your comp. VLC is the answer to your problem. The best part is its open source.

Keepvid.com can direct download videos from Google Video, YouTube, IFilm, Putfile and various other sites. It is by far the best online download resource center.

Okay, after downloading the video in .flv format, how do you convert it to normal mpeg format? Simple, use Cinema Forge, its a freeware and like all open source programs. Its fast and stable.

YouTube is a great way of sharing videos online, and from what I’ve last read. They seems to have problem securing investor, meaning to say that no one is willing to pump in money. YouTube seems to be in deep trouble, the only way to fight the might 800-lb Google is to include short advertisement in every video. Are you guys at YouTube listening?

Google Video’s “Mature & Adult” Category

Google is now accepting video under the Mature and Adult category, I’m not very sure if they really mean it, but its kind of weird that I couldn’t find any of the so called Adult videos in Google Video.

Did you know that Youtube couldn’t find a buyer for their company, and no company want to invest in their stock. I guess the only way to save Youtube is by offering Adult videos, the industry is as big as Hollywood, and Youtube could be the Playboy of the digital distribution. If I’m YouTube, no harm trying right?
