Accidentally deleted a Word document and how to recover it from the recycle bin? Which is the best external hard drive data recovery software?

Restoration is perhaps the easiest, simplest, and cheapest hard drive data recovery software, not to mention that it is absolutely free! It runs on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista. The only drawback I find is the lack of support and at certain times it fails to recover certain missing files, which is not to bad consider the fact that this is a freeware.

Free Hard Drive Data Recovery Software, Restore Deleted Files

Restoration is an easy to use and straight forward tool to undelete files that were removed from the recycle bin or directly deleted from within Windows, and we were also able to recover photos from a Flash card that had been formatted. Upon start, you can scan for all files that may be recovered and also limit the results by entering a search term or extension. In addition, it also provides the option to wipe the found files beyond simple recovery.

You can filter the results if you know the name of the file you are looking for, which is much easier than wading through the list of the hundreds of deleted files it usually finds (including temporary files, cached Web files, etc). Restoration doesn’t need to be installed to work. Download Restoration 2.5 by Brian Kato, only 229 kb!

Unlike PC Inspector File Recovery 4, EASEUS comes with a number of limitations such as not having the ability to recover files from corrupted partitions, corrupted system, compressed and encrypted files and more. EASEUS may not be the best hard drive data recovery software available online, but it does have a much more user friendly interface.

Pandora Recovery is a powerful free tool that provides its users an effective way to attempt recovery of permanently deleted files. And that does not mean restoration of a file from Recycle Bin. Pandora Recovery lets its user browse, search, preview and recover files deleted from NTFS and FAT volumes, supporting hard drives, flash drives and memory cards.

Arguably, Pandora Recovery is the most powerful damaged hard drive data recovery software in the market and it cost about $80 at the time of writing, this is so much cheaper than having an ‘expert’ to do the same task of recovering lost files using the same data recovery software. Some of Pandora Recovery features:

  • Recover Archived, Hidden, Encrypted, Compressed files
  • Recover Alternate Data Streams (ADS)
  • Recover Images, Documents, Movies, or any other type of files
  • Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows 2000
  • Review File properties and Drive properties
  • Recover to Local Hard Drive, Network Drive, or Flash Drive
