According to research, Mozilla Firefox is the best open source browser in the market, but fact is Mozilla Firefox 2 is the worst browser ever in the market.
One of the problem faced by Mozila Firefox is the memory leak issue, initially I was skeptic and thought that this could be a PC problem, or some bias review from the Microsoft camp, much to my surprise, it wasn’t a bias review and the rumors for once turned out to be true. With the memory leak issue, mozilla firefox is still gaining market share – it could be that nobody notice the memory leak bug, how many net user actually launch 10 new websites simultaneously?
Flock, an open source browser based on the Mozilla engine was able to solve the memory leak issue. If you’re a firefox fan and reluctant to switch camp, try some other alternative browser such as Safari from Apple and Opera Browser.
Talking about Opera browser, the browser is believed to be the fastest, at least according to experts, I am not entirely convinced that this is the case. One of the reason for me to doubt the super fast loading speed of Opera is the way it render and cache website. I believe Opera display images and text after loading the page to about 80% whereas IE, Safari and Firefox display the images and text as they load. More of an illusion of speed. Firefox Market Share Against IE
The latest figure release by onestat shows that Firefox browser continue to gain market share over leader IE. Firefox now has a total global usage share of 12.93 percent, while Internet Explorer commands a lion share of 83.05 percent. I am a big supporter of Firefox, and I would say Firefox is a better browser compare to IE in term of usability, security and most of all stability.
The market share vary from country to country, for example Firefox market share in Aussie is around 24%, while Germany has a market share of 40%. That is alot if we were to compare it with US Firefox user, which has a very dissapointed 16% market share. With IE7 and Firefox 2.0 due out this year. The competition is only going to heat up! As a big fan of Firefox, I have to admit that with the release of Microsoft Vista next year, Firefox is going the Dodo bird’s way – extinction.
