NASA and the Zero-Gravity Pen

October 18, 2007 · Filed Under Make Money Online · Comment

Here is an interesting story, found at Teaching Sells.

Back when NASA started launching manned spacecraft in the 1960s, they found out that the astronauts couldn’t use pens to write with while in space. The ink wouldn’t flow down through the pen in a zero-gravity environment. NASA decided to retain a man named Paul Fisher to design a pen that would work in space.

A mere $1.5 million later, they had a solution. NASA now had a pen that worked in zero gravity, in a vacuum, and in a drastic temperature range.

The Russian cosmonauts had the same problem, of course.

So they used a pencil.

Now, this anecdote isn’t historically accurate, and has become a bit of an urban legend. The truth is both the US and Russia used pencils at first, and Paul Fisher independently created the pen and sold 400 of them to NASA for a song. The reason the exaggerated story is so widely embraced, though, is because it rings true.

We often expend large amounts of time and effort creating elaborate solutions to problems when a simple answer is right under our noses.

How To Make Money Online

How To Make Money Online

Sometimes I wonder how reliable are these so called “make money instantly” books and videos, what is the content of these materials? I have to admit that these so called gurus are really making money, Why? and How? It is like the chicken and egg idea, where thousands of people are buying into their ideas and books, which in turn create what they are, not because of what they were.

I always wanted to buy these books and videos, just to understand what is so fascinating about their so called “easy money”, I remember reading somewhere about these so called “scams”, the system works by paying you a small sum of money for every book you sell online (usually it is the same book you bought), by simply using the exact same technique they use to sell the book, they even have the templates, fake feedbacks from non-existence people and many more, something of a pyramid scheme.

My advice is, nothing is free and easy, but then again if you believe in yourself and are able to convince a large pool of people to buy the book, then by all means go ahead.

RIP Pixelotto

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Web Application · Comment

Remember Pixelotto? The brain child of Alex Tew that took the internet world by storm. I did wrote an article about Pixelotto few months ago, about the site is a flop and as good as dead, and how Alex Tew only manage to rake in 150,000 USD only. I am so wrong, sometimes I overlook the bigger picture, simply put it this way, if Alex Tew’s Pixelotto rake in 2 million dollars then he has to give away 1 million dollars, but if he only manage to sell 1,900,000 dollars worth of pixel ads, then he cash in the remaining 900,000 dollars, making him he actual lucky draw winning as long as the amount of pixel ads sold do not reach 2 million dollars.

still… he managed to win 150.000 till now from pixelotto… i bet that’s a lot more than what you make in 3 years ;)

Which is true, I bet it will take me years to make what he manage to earn in that short little period. I salute you Alex Tew, you’re still one of the best among the best when it comes to making money online.

Adbrite Invideo - make money from your video

Adbrite Invideo - make money from your video

Adbrite has come up with a new way of integrating ads into video, something which Google and YouTube failed to do so. One of the advantage would be if someone embed your video in their blog, you get paid too if someone view the ads, I am not sure about copyright and if it is against Google’s Adsense policy.

Adbrite Invideo Features:

  • Fully customizable video player, easy-to-use, and 100% free
  • Brand your videos with your own custom logo “watermark”
  • “Split-screen” ads engage users without interrupting viewing experience
  • Sharing features promote your site when your videos get “viral”
  • Earn money from your videos, even when they’re embedded into other peoples’ Web sites
  • Another great product from Adbrite is BritePic, it works by integrated ads into the images in your blog. Example blog here. Great new to all photobloggers to make money online, something they’ve been deny for quite sometime.

    What is BritePic?

  • BritePic adds interactivity and ads (if you want them) to the photos on your website.
  • BritePic is free and easy to use.
  • If you’re an HTML coder, use BritePic instead of the tag.
  • make money from your images pictures

    October 18, 2006 · Filed Under Contextual Advertising · 1 Comment

    Performancing Partners make money online

If you’ve got no luck in Google Adsense, then you should try the new kid on the block - Performancing. Nobody can tell if it is going to be a success or a total failure. With so many well known bloggers supporting it, I believe it will be the next big thing after TextLinkAds follow by Google Adsense of course. Anyway, some of the attractive feature that performancing offer is:

      1. You take home 5% of income generated by any publisher or advertiser you refer to them indefinitely.
      2. You take 70% of the revenue and Performancing taking 30%
      3. There’s no minimum amount earned before you’ll be paid.

Isn’t that cool? TextLinkAds and Google Adsense have to fine tune their system now. Join now, its free. What are you waiting for? Joing Performancing Partners now as a publisher and start making money online.

    Google Adsense is the future

    October 15, 2006 · Filed Under Contextual Advertising · 1 Comment

Small Companies & Google Adsense is the future

Markus Frind is a local Vancouverite, Canadian. His free online dating site turn the whole world upside down, working alone at home, his one man show company plentyoffish.com has 500million page views per month and is making well over USD10,000 per day. Just imagine that, a one man show running a multi million dollar site. He did posted a picture of him holding two months worth of Google Adsense earning, which is kind of weird because didn’t Google said no showing off your check and earnings?

I sometimes wonder if i’m crazy for not going paid, and passing up 100’s of millions a year in revenue. But i created this site to change the world, and make money at the same time. I may not make $20 million a month like the other sites my size but google pays me good money :) My effective CPM (under $1.00) may be very very low, but when you have a site this huge it really ads up. - by Markus Frind CEO of Plentyoffish.com

I notice something about all these site that manage to break the USD10,000 mark, they have something in common - ugly. No doubt about that, come to think of it, their website is really an eyesore and I couldn’t agree more with what seroundtable wrote - visitors tend to click on the ads because they are desperate to get out of the site and thus the best exit route would be thru the ads itself. I couldn’t agree more with that.
