US Army Block MySpace and YouTube

US Army Block MySpace and YouTube

It appears thats the US Army is blocking access to site like YouTube and MySpace, reason being that it hogs bandwidth and it is a threat to the army security if any important data leaks, which is yet to be seen or hear of.

I find this ironic, considering the fact that US is the champion of freedom of speech, on top of that military personal uses these site to keep in touch with their friends and relatives, cutting off them is like cutting off their oxygen, sure there is always email, but email don’t provide the same service.

Army Times has this to say:

“This is as much an information war as it is bombs and bullets,” he said. “And they are muzzling their best voices.”

MySpace and YouTube are not the only victims, other sites covered by the ban are the video-sharing sites Metacafe, IFilm, StupidVideos, and FileCabi, the social networking sites BlackPlanet and Hi5, music sites Pandora, MTV, and 1.fm, and live365, and the photo-sharing site Photobucket.

What happen to sites like Friendster or Flickr?

DZOIC MySpace and Friendster Clone

DZOIC MySpace and Friendster Clone script

Credit goes to Friendster for being the first social networking, and credit goes to MySpace for having the biggest pie in the online social networking, both company deserve the credit and we do have to admit that the people behind these social networking company are smart people, there is a old saying and it goes, “Sell the shove, don’t dig for the gold.”

MySpace and Friendster are both fine examples of not digging the gold but selling the shoves, well, you may say blogging is a form of making money but in reality it is not, the blogsphere is crowded with people like me and you, all aiming for the same pie where else social networking has a control of the actual user.

My advice would be diversify, if you happen to have the money and resources then invest in DZOIC MySpace clone, basically it is a social networking script, you can’t beat MySpace and Friendster but try to aim for a different market, for example social networking mainly for Christian people or gays, it is a niche group but remember, no amount of traffic is small.

DZOIC MySpace and Friendster Clone

Above is a screen shot of the user interface, not as fancy and feature rich like MySpace but it is way much better than Friendster, makes me wonder what happen to Friendster? They seems to be dying a slow death.

Girl sues MySpace for £16m

June 21, 2006 · Filed Under Sci and Tech · Comment

This must be the joke of the year, according to Telegraph News the girl decided to take up legal action against MySpace for failing to protect so called innocent people like her from falling victim. She even claim that it was MySpace fault that she gave her trust and her 10++ magical contact number to the online friend.

A 14-year-old girl is suing an online chat site for $30 million (£16 million) for failing to protect her against an alleged sexual predator.

According to the suit filed in Texas, MySpace.com has “absolutely no meaningful protections or security measures to protect under-age users”.

The way I see it, good luck my friend and I bet MySpace is going to hire a USD400 per hour lawyer and she will have to get a USD100 per hour lawyer, after 10 years the lawyers will be laughing their way to the bank.
