Goodbye Pluto - Its 8 Planet Now.

Its official now, we have 8 planets instead of 9. Pluto has been demoted into yet another rock. Textbook will have to be re-written, good news for publisher. Now, suddenly, there are only eight real, full-fledged planets — and Pluto has been booted out of the club. For more information, read Miami Herald

Pluto - to be or not to be!

planetary_planets_debate.jpgA debate about the definition of a planet may sound like a boring issue to the average person, but a proposal by the International Astronomical Union certainly has blogger talking.

The proposal, which would reserve the status for objects with enough mass that gravity overpowers all other forces, making the object round, and that it orbits a star, not another planet. That is the only way these guys find to keep Pluto as a planet, by creating a definition that instantly makes a 12 planet system with 12 others up for consideration…and there’s probably several hundred more that we haven’t found yet… very Lame, I bet my one year old cousin could do better!
