Joel Comm AdSense Secrets 4.0 Review

According to his website, it cost only $9.95 for the latest edition of Adsense Secrets, well, what is the catch? In his video, it says nothing about the trojan horse awaits you. Here is what Darren Rowse from Problogger has to say:

Please do read the sales copy and understand that there’s a membership program/monthly report with this that costs $29.95 a month which you are subscribed to when you sign up for this. You can unsubscribe at any time if you don’t want to be in it. I’m a little surprised and disappointed to see Joel doing this to be honest but it is mentioned in the sales page (see the ‘free’ bonuses).

I have to say, I almost fall for it until I read the review in Problogger.com and glad that I did, isn’t this unethical? On top of that, Darren says the book is good for new comers, and some of the technique mentions in the book are somewhat against Google TOC.

From the comments I read in various blogs, generally the reviews are good, I’ll get one copy soon and I heard Joel has made a public apology for the ‘hidden fees’, he goes to the extend of amending the options, guess I’ll my copy of the book without the monthly $30 newsletter subscription.

I’ve been a steady reader of Problogger.net for 4 good years, Darren has a great blog about blogging for dollars and you happen to be a problogger wannabe, do check out his blog and the newly redesign layout. Basically his blog is about making money online and it has lots of great tips on improving your CTR.

Images Alongside Google Adsense

I’ve been toying around with the idea of using Adsense Beautifier for quite sometime now, the whole thing looks so risky. I’ve seen a few well known bloggers using it for their blog, a very good example would be, Copyblogger (check out the ads after the article). I got a reply from the Google Adsense team about the plugin and this is what they have to say:

To be specific, we ask that publishers not place misleading images near Google ads or use images that appear to be directly associated with the advertisers and their offerings. The use of such images may confuse users or draw undue attention to the ads and result in unintentional clicks.

I guess copyblogger got it right, the images beside the ads at each post are irrelevant and it comes with a dotted border, but then Darren Rowse, a very well know blogger in the blogging world applied the same technique - images beside/above google ads, unlike Copyblogger, the ads in Darren’s blogs are relevant to the ads Google Adsense is displaying, with no border between the ads and images, this has been going on for almost a year or perhaps more.

It doesn’t affect me if they got a higher CTR but I’m just wondering if Darren Rowse can do it, why not others? Why not me? Why not the many other bloggers? Some examples of Darren’s blogs with images alongside adsense:

I hope Darren is not mad, I have much respect for him. His main blog - Problogger is a must read for all problogger wannabe. The content is great and his step by step guide on how to maximize earnings legally without breaking adsense TOS are beyond words.

I still couldn’t find the answer in Google Adsense official forum and don’t think I am able to find it anywhere else. What can I say, it is better to be safe than sorry and slow and steady win the race.

Yes, you heard me. Darren Rowse has this writting content, basically what you have to do is simply write anything you like. Write about any except those private stuff… he’s a problogger and as far as I know, he is making a living out of it. What are you waiting for? Join the Group Writing Project.

With the predicted massive tsunami hit due to this content, I bet Darren is going to make ten times more than what he is offering. Great idea, lets see… I’ll start one with the most beautiful template personally customized by user of GeckoandFly templates… how about that?
