New Yahoo Home Page and the Search Engine War

July 17, 2006 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Today must be Yahoo’s biggest day ever, its a do or die situation where they have to gain some market share from Google. They call it “the most significant redesign of the www.yahoo.com home page ever”, with a totally new layout unlike the pervious Yahoo homepage, the new home page has a different layout than the previous look, Ajax integration and DHTML are some of the key features.

Content is king, that is where Yahoo beats MSN and Google flat. I have to admit that Yahoo is rich with contents, especially online games and information, their Yahoo Finance page speaks for themself. What Google needs are contents and that is what they are doing by buying up smaller companies.

I believe most of the bloggers tweak their blog for Google Spider, but have any of these so called pro-bloggers ever thought of the over crowded market in the internet? If everyone is going after the same piece of pie, what is your chances of getting a small piece of the cake?

New Yahoo Home Page and the Search Engine War

As far as I am concern, my GeckoandFly is optimized for MSN, stupid as it may sound but I believe the future is with MSN. Come to think of it, the would be release Windows Vista comes with MSN search as the default search engine portal, which means not so tech savvy people would be using MSN instead of Google or Yahoo, and with no bloggers optimizing their blogs for MSN, chances of gain eyeballs is very high.

Google is a very reliable and accurate search engine, but to get listed at the number one spot require lots of backlinks and other hidden technique. MSN on the other hand require little SEO knowledge, its unreliable, information is always wrong and older folks are the end user. Which means they have the purchasing power, selling goods would be a breeze. Google would always be the number one search engine, but how long would Yahoo hold on to the number two spot?
