Joseph Barbera, the genius behind some of the most loved cartoon characters in history, passed away on December 18 in his Californian home. Together with his partner William hanna, they created some of the world’s most recognize cartoon character. Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Scooby-doo. Rest in Peace Mr.Barbera

The pair first teamed up at MGM studios in the 1930s, and created the international hit ‘Tom and Jerry’. The battling cat and mouse animated duo earned Barbera and Hanna seven Oscars.

Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Barry Meyer said “His cartoons were not only animated superstars, but also a very beloved part of American pop culture spanning the Stone Age to the Space Age and from primetime to Saturday mornings, syndication and cable. While he will be missed by his family and friends, Barbera will live on through his work.” - Source
