How To Speed Up Windows XP And 7 Start Up Or Bootup Time

How to speed up Windows 7 boot up time? Do you know that Windows uses only 1 processor when you have a dual core processor to perform the bootup task. No reason given by Microsoft, today, I am going to show you how to enable 2 processor for a speedier bootup. The overally user interface is slightly different from Windows 7, but you’ll get the idea.

Under the system configuration window, choose the ‘boot.ini’ tab. For Windows XP and Vista, check the box for ‘/NUMPROC’ and select 2 instead of 1. For Windows 7, check the box ‘Number of Processor’ and select 2 instead of 1.

Restart your computer for the effect to take place, you’ll probably notice a speedier bootup time. Based on my own test, bootup time has decreased by 6 seconds (faster by 6 seconds). It may vary from processor to processor. Good luck.
