Found this interesting article in the Mac Security Blog – “Mac Trojan Horse OSX.Trojan.iServices.A Found in Pirated Apple iWork 09”
Intego has discovered a new Trojan horse, OSX.Trojan.iServices.A, which is currently circulating in copies of Apple’s iWork 09 found on BitTorrent trackers and other sites containing links to pirated software. The version of iWork 09, Apple’s productivity suite, are complete and functional, but the installer contains an additional package called iWorkServices.pkg.
As much as I adore Apple Mac product for their sleek and beautiful design, justifying the lack of Virus and Trojan as one of the main reason to get a Mac is a lame excuse.

If indeed Mac is virus and trojan free, why in the world is Apple recommending the use of anti-virus tools to protect Mac systems?
Lets face the truth, as the popularity of Mac grew by the day, virus writer are on the lookout for it is easier to target Mac because Mac users are much more naive as oppose to Windows user. This is partly Apple’s fault because for years they’ve been telling their customer not to worry about virus because Mac as they know is virus free, and will be in the future!
Download your free AntiVirus for Mac now! I won’t be surprise if Apple decided to release an Anti Virus for Mac in 5 years time.
Another myth on Mac being crash proof is not true, I once attended a talk and the guest lecturer failed to load his Microsoft Powerpoint slides on a Mac, one of the reason being the enormous size of the powerpoint file at 200MB. When the Mac consistently refuses to load the file and crashed, the guest lecturer has no choice but to give the PC a try, needless to say, it works!
He went on and says, “This is a MacBook Pro! This is not supposed to happen.”
No doubt, a Mac is much more stable than Windows and less likely to be infected with virus, however, Mac user have taken this whole ‘Mac is virus free and stable’ to a god like status! Come back to earth, please! Everyone is mortal!

nothing is 100% perfect!
The lecturer was trying to open a *Microsoft* presentation. If you’ve used Office for Mac, you know that it’s painfully slow, and chews up system resources immensely.
I still blame Microsoft!
